Malene Malene Golding, M.Ed, is a certified Master Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist who has been a professional educator for over twenty years, teaching, coaching, managing reading and writing teachers, administrators and specialists and taught preservice teachers as an adjunct professor.​

​Monique Johnson is a educator for 20 plus years and worked in several public-school districts and private schools. Monique has a passion for Middle school however has worked in Elementary, High School and Secondary (College). Served as a teacher, instructional coach, curriculum manager, professor, and education consultant.  Her motto is all students can learn regardless of their circumstances.


Description: How do we get our youngest students to compose thoughtful pieces of text while teaching the writing process? Join us for this high-energy, literacy-based training as we explore best practices for teaching written composition in pre-kindergarten to 2nd grade. Collaborate with other primary teachers to create purposeful writing assignments which teach the writing process while focusing on the message, audience, and purpose.
Objectives:
Teachers will learn and retell…  
  • The stages of writing and spelling development
  • How the writing process can be taught in primary classrooms
  • Why students should be writing in response to text daily
  • Why activities that teach writing should be interactive
 
Teachers will learn and practice…  
  • Highly effective teaching techniques, appropriate for all learners in all grades and especially helpful to those students who struggle with writing
  • Using their knowledge of writing and spelling development to create authentic writing assignments and rubrics for the early childhood classroom
  • Drafting, Revising and Editing strategies that teach students how to craft quality age-appropriate responses to text
  • Strategies to integrate reading and writing in all classrooms daily
