Description: How do we get our youngest students to compose thoughtful pieces of text while teaching the writing process? Join us for this high-energy, literacy-based training as we explore best practices for teaching written composition in pre-kindergarten to 2nd grade. Collaborate with other primary teachers to create purposeful writing assignments which teach the writing process while focusing on the message, audience, and purpose.

- How the writing process can be taught in primary classrooms
- Why students should be writing in response to text daily
- Why activities that teach writing should be interactive
Teachers will learn and practice…
- Highly effective teaching techniques, appropriate for all learners in all grades and especially helpful to those students who struggle with writing
- Using their knowledge of writing and spelling development to create authentic writing assignments and rubrics for the early childhood classroom
- Drafting, Revising and Editing strategies that teach students how to craft quality age-appropriate responses to text
- Strategies to integrate reading and writing in all classrooms daily
