Reading and writing are bridged in meaning by grammar and conventions. With these meaning-making activators, writers compose with purpose and craft. Join us for an interactive and playful session of professional development. National presenter, author, and Texas-based literacy consultant, Whitney La Rocca, will demonstrate how to engage students in the Patterns of Power process that invites students to play with the conventions of language. Beginning with a model of this inquiry process in the learning zone, with conversations and compositions grounded in author’s purpose and craft, Whitney will then connect this learning to the performance zone of STAAR.
